Bahrain has developed a comprehensive programme for its presidency of the 46th GCC Summit, with more than 44 ministerial committees tasked to advance GCC integration throughout next year, revealed Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani.
He affirmed that the 46th GCC (Bahrain) Summit was one of the most successful and cohesive gatherings in recent years, producing decisions that reinforced Gulf unity, strengthened regional stability and advanced economic, political and security integration.
Speaking during a joint Press conference with GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al Budaiwi at the conclusion of the summit, held under the chairmanship of His Majesty King Hamad, Dr Al Zayani said the outcomes reflected ‘the spirit of brotherhood and understanding’ among GCC leaders, adding that the decisions ‘embody the firm commitment of member states to deepen joint Gulf action’.
Dr Al Zayani welcomed the large media presence, expressing pride in a summit he described as ‘exceptional by all standards’, while praising the meticulous preparations led by GCC foreign ministers and the Secretariat.
A major highlight, he said, was the adoption of the Sakhir Declaration 2025, which builds on last year’s Sakhir Declaration issued at the Arab League Summit.
The new declaration reinforces core Gulf principles: strengthening historical ties, protecting stability, empowering youth and women, upholding justice and dialogue, and promoting sustainable peace throughout the region.
The GCC, he stressed, seeks to present itself as ‘a global model of cohesion and sustainable development’.
For his part, Mr Al Budaiwi expressed deep appreciation to Bahrain’s leadership and people for an ‘unprecedented level of hospitality and organisation’, stressing that the summit reaffirmed the GCC’s unified path.
He said the Secretariat presented a full report on 2025 achievements across political, economic, security and legislative fields, noting that the results were ‘positive and a testament to the seriousness of our joint work’.
Mr Al Budaiwi also announced major progress on the GCC-US Integrated Air and Missile Defence Shield, describing technical meetings as ‘well advanced’, with the project to be unveiled once finalised.
He further revealed that 2027 will witness the largest ever GCC joint military exercise, involving army, navy and air force units from all member states, under the umbrella of the Unified Military Command.
Both officials stressed that the Bahrain Summit’s outcomes carried strong and positive messages, demonstrating the GCC’s determination to strengthen co-operation, protect stability and advance prosperity.
