Communication between family and friends is no longer what it once was. Visits have become less frequent, and daily phone calls are no longer routine. Some may see this as a negative effect of modern technology, yet I see a precious opportunity if we use it wisely.
Communication – by any means – remains a noble habit that keeps relationships alive and warms the human heart.
Today, social media provides a wide window through which we can check on those we care about, share news, and exchange kind messages. While these platforms cannot replace the warmth of face-to-face gatherings, they offer an uninterrupted bridge that keeps hearts close despite the demands and distractions of modern life.
Personally, I find great value in staying connected and make it a daily practice. How many simple messages have brightened someone’s day, renewed a friendship, or opened doors for learning and knowledge exchange? One of the greatest benefits of these tools is their ability to spread wisdom, scientific insights, and educational content that helps us grow in ways previously unimaginable. Knowledge is no longer confined to a heavy book or a long lecture; sometimes, a shared article or short message is enough to spark curiosity and understanding.
However, with this privilege comes responsibility. It is essential to verify information before sharing it. Sadly, some individuals spread rumours with ill intent, whether to create confusion or promote agendas that harm society.
I recall an incident when I received news of the passing of an elderly woman in intensive care. With good intentions, I shared it with family and friends so they could offer their condolences, only to discover later that the news was false. I faced criticism for spreading it and even wrote an article explaining my intentions while condemning those who circulated the false information. This experience reinforced the importance of caution and verification.
Life’s richness depends on connecting with others – sharing feelings, offering support, and exchanging knowledge. A single message can brighten a day or create an impact far greater than we realise. All it takes is sincere intention and a little time.
My advice, based on experience, is simple: never let life’s busyness sever the ties that matter.
Even a short message or a kind word counts. Words can be charity, communication is mercy, and together they strengthen our bonds, elevate our awareness, and enrich our relationships.
Let us embrace both traditional and digital means of connection as tools to build a more compassionate, aware, and harmonious society.
