Bahrain is set to host a major forum that will bring together some of the best ear, nose, and throat medicine (ENT) experts from around the world.
The second edition of the Bahrain ENT Conference, organised by Government Hospitals and EducationPlus, will be held on April 15 and 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay in Manama.
Supreme Council of Health chairman Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa is set to attend the event alongside leading physicians, consultants and specialists from around the world.
The forum forms part of ongoing efforts to support professional development and promote the exchange of specialised medical expertise in Bahrain.
The event targets ENT residents, consultants, doctors, nurses, audiologists, medical students and paediatricians.
Government Hospitals chief executive officer Mariam Al Jalahma said the second edition builds on the success of the inaugural conference, which provided a scientific platform for knowledge exchange and a review of the latest developments in ENT practice.
“The conference reflects Government Hospitals’ commitment to attracting international expertise and expanding continuous learning opportunities for medical professionals,” said Ms Al Jalahma.
“It contributes to enhancing the quality of healthcare services for citizens and residents in Bahrain.
“The conference will bring together international specialists and address key scientific themes, including advanced therapeutic and surgical techniques, cochlear implants, hearing disorders, and nasal and sinus diseases, alongside clinical case studies and recent research highlighting best medical practices.
“It will also feature specialised scientific sessions and interactive training workshops aimed at fostering professional partnerships and reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for specialised medical conferences.”
The event will bring together speakers from Bahrain, Spain, Germany, Oman and Saudi Arabia, Austria, and the UAE and feature a diverse range of topics covering various aspects of ENT, including cutting-edge technologies and surgeries, as well as audiology and speech rehabilitation.
Experts will present their latest research findings, share clinical insights, and discuss emerging trends in the field.
It will feature two tracks: Otology and Pediatrics, both of which will include panel discussions, interactive workshops, and scientific sessions. The Otology track will focus on the study of the anatomy and diseases of the ear, while the Pediatric sessions will feature case studies focused on children.
There will be a lecture on Genetic Profile in Bahraini Cochlear Implant Users by conference president and Government Hospital consultant ENT surgeon Dr Maryam Sahwan.
There will also be discussions on the ‘Significance of Newborn Hearing Screening in Bahrain’ by Dr Fatima Al Asfoor, as well as keynotes on ‘Early Activation in Cochlear Implantation’ by Professor Abdulrahman Hagr from Saudi and on ‘Successful Cochlear Implant Journey’ by Professor Thomas Lenarz from Germany.
