Mahesh Bhatia, a longtime resident of Bahrain, died yesterday at a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 72.
Mr Bhatia was born in Bahrain and completed the initial part of his schooling here, before moving to India to finish his education. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management from Bombay University.
He later returned to Bahrain to pursue his career, beginning with Gulf Air, before moving into the media sector and subsequently joining the Bahrain Exhibitions and Convention Authority.

He was closely associated with various social organisations and served on the boards of the Lions Club of Bahrain, the Thattai Hindu Community, the Co-ordination Committee of the Indian Associations, and the Indian School Bahrain.
He is survived by his wife Sunita, 69; his brother Dilip; sisters Nalini and Mala; his son Namit; daughter Poonam; daughter‑in‑law Varsha; son‑in‑law Anil Rao; and his grandchildren, Aarna, Hiya, Dhriti and Saransh.
No funeral details have been announced.
