The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced Friday morning that one of the power and water desalination plants was attacked by Iran.
In a statement, the official spokesperson for the Ministry Engineer Fatima Hayat said that on Friday at dawn, one of the power and water desalination plants was attacked by Iran, resulting in material damage to some of the plants components, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
She added that the technical and emergency teams immediately began their work, according to the approved emergency plans, to deal with the repercussions of the incident and maintain operational efficiency, in full coordination with security and relevant authorities to secure the affected sites.
Hayat urged the public to remain calm and not to be swayed by rumours, and to obtain information from official sources, emphasising that the Ministry will continue to monitor developments transparently.
She emphasised that the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems is a top priority, and that all technical teams are working around the clock with high efficiency, in anticipation of any emergency and to ensure the continuity of vital services.
