Essential supplies including food, clothing and temporary shelter were provided recently to Sri Lankan expatriates in the kingdom who have been affected by recent challenges on Monday.
The initiative, led by the Sri Lankan Embassy, also included assistance and support in various forms such as the facilitation of medical care, transportation and treatment.
Embassy staff also contributed essential relief items, including dry rations and basic necessities, to support the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Migrant Workers Protection Society and Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC).
The donation was handed over to the PLC Bahrain Chapter for distribution at the embassy premises in Manama.
In response to numerous requests for repatriation, the embassy stated that it has also taken steps to facilitate travel to Sri Lanka via Saudi Arabia. In co-ordination with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh, land transit permits have already been secured for more than 200 Sri Lankan nationals to enable their return to their country.
