Parliament Speaker and chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division delegation Ahmed Al Musallam held bilateral parliamentary meetings with the heads and representatives of the parliaments of France, Brazil and Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the 152nd IPU General Assembly, held in Türkiye.
Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro and Parliament First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman were present.
Mr Al Musallam affirmed that the condemned, rejected, and denounced Iranian attacks targeted civilian objects and vital facilities, and harmed countries, peoples, and their shared stability.
He noted that Bahrain has been subjected to unjustified attacks by Iran for more than 45 days using drones and ballistic missiles, as those attacks have affected citizens’ homes and sources of energy and water.
He provided the heads and representatives of the parliaments with an explanation and clarification regarding the blatant Iranian attacks on Bahrain, the GCC states and Jordan, indicating that those attacks were condemned by United Nations Security Council Resolution (2817), which was sponsored by 136 countries, and by United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution (38), which was unanimously adopted under the sponsorship of 115 countries.
The two resolutions clearly expressed the extent of international solidarity and the UN position in condemning the attacks on the countries of the region.
The Speaker noted that the kingdom has, throughout history, been known for its adherence and full commitment to the approach of peace and coexistence, and for building ties based on mutual respect, and has not initiated hostility towards any country, yet it is subjected to unjustified attacks by Iran.
For their part, the heads and representatives of the parliaments expressed their pride in the ties with Bahrain, looking forward to deepening means of co-operation and co-ordination to support bilateral interests and enhance the desired development and progress.
