Egyptian superstar Amr Diab has been fined an additional EGP 200 (BD 1.45) after an appeal against a financial ruling related to his 2024 slapping incident was rejected.
The incident occurred during a concert at a hotel in 2024, where the singer was filmed slapping a man across the face while the individual was attempting to take a photograph with him.
Following initial investigations, Diab was ordered to pay the victim EGP 10,000 (BD72) as preliminary compensation. While the victim initially sought EGP 1 billion (BD 7.2 million) in damages, he later reduced the demand to EGP 5 million (approximately BD36,000).
To date, the victim has only received a total of BD73.45 in compensation.
