THE General Sports Authority (GSA) and National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) signed a naming rights sponsorship agreement for Khalifa Sports City, as part of efforts to support and develop the sports infrastructure in the kingdom.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, GSA chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the signing, along with GSA deputy chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and BOC vice-president Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
The agreement was signed on the GSA’s behalf by GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar, while NBB group chief executive officer Usman Ahmed signed on behalf of the bank.
Shaikh Khalid said that the agreement represents an advanced model of integration between sports sector and private sector institutions.
Shaikh Khalid noted that the naming rights sponsorship of Khalifa Sports City will contribute to the sustainability and development of sports facilities, in line with international standards.
Shaikh Khalid added that the partnership with NBB reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting the development of Bahraini sports and enhancing sports facilities to serve as a platform for local and international events, in line with the kingdom’s progress in this domain.
Shaikh Khalid noted that such initiatives enhance the management efficiency of sports facilities and open broader opportunities for sports investment. He affirmed the authority’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that support the sector’s development goals.
The agreement forms part of a series of initiatives aimed at developing Khalifa Sports City and reinforcing its role as a key venue for hosting sports activities and events, in support of athletes and the kingdom’s sports sector.
