A 63-year-old Indian expatriate flying from Bahrain to Bengaluru is being investigated for allegedly sexually harassing a 24-year-old cabin crew member on board, according to Indian media.
The Kempegowda International Airport Police in Bengaluru have filed a First Information Report (FIR) – a written document prepared by police in India when they receive information about a serious crime prior to beginning investigations – against the man.
According to media reports, the incident took place on May 4 around 8.15pm.
The cabin crew member, who filed the case after the flight landed in Bengaluru, alleged that the accused touched her inappropriately while she was performing her duties.
She claimed that the accused moved his hand towards her from under a blanket and touched her waist. She objected and warned him, bringing the matter to the attention of the captain, who reportedly questioned the passenger.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly denied any wrongdoing, claiming the contact was ‘friendly’.
The police have launched an investigation and have yet to reveal whether the accused has been questioned or arrested.
