In line with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports’ ongoing commitment to enhancing safety standards across sports and recreational facilities, the Works Ministry in collaboration with Northstar Technology, has successfully implemented an advanced, solar-powered emergency communication system along the NBH Loop.
The NBH Loop, was inaugurated by His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and supreme council for youth and sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The 50-km dedicated cycling path the longest of its kind in the kingdom is located in Zallaq.
The newly-deployed system spans 13kms of the loop, significantly enhancing public safety and emergency response capabilities for cyclists and pedestrians.
The initiative significantly strengthens public safety and emergency response capabilities for cyclists and pedestrians using the popular recreational corridor.
A total of 28 Hikvision Panic Alarm units have been strategically installed at intervals of approximately 500 metres.
Each unit is securely mounted on a concrete base and equipped with an emergency call button and intercom, enabling direct and immediate communication with the Interior Ministry’s main Operations Room.
The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports affirmed that the project aligns with national efforts to modernise sports infrastructure in accordance with international standards, noting that the system represents a major advancement in safety, reliability, and user protection along the NBH Loop.
The system operates entirely on solar energy, ensuring uninterrupted functionality without reliance on external power sources.
Connectivity is provided through STC SIM-based technology, delivering a secure and stable communication link to the Interior Ministry’s headquarters in Manama.
Through direct integration with the 999 Emergency Services Control Centre, alerts are received instantly and displayed on a high-specification touchscreen interface, allowing rapid co-ordination and deployment of police or ambulance services when required.
Northstar Technology confirmed that the panic alarm units were designed to meet the highest technical standards, emphasising their reliability, ease of use, and full compliance with the 999 emergency connectivity protocol.
