An expatriate woman from Kerala and her daughter were found dead at a residential building in Sharjah.
According to a Gulf News report, the 35-year-old mother threw her five-year-old child from the 22nd floor of a high-rise tower in the Al Nahda area on Wednesday (May 20) before jumping to her death.
The building's security guard reported hearing a loud noise before rushing outside to discover the bodies. The child was found on the road, while the mother lay on the pavement below the 32-storey building.
Neighbours noted that police had visited the flat the previous day following a reported domestic dispute. The security guard added that the husband had previously mentioned his wife was experiencing mental health struggles.
The woman's husband, who works as an aircraft resource allocation officer in Dubai, has been taken in for questioning by the authorities.
Sharjah Police confirmed that the case has been registered as a suicide and referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
