A woman was arrested in Egypt after being discovered feeding stray dogs in Cairo's streets and posting videos of herself doing so, as well as encouraging others to feed them and taking donations to do so herself.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry clarified its decision on Facebook by stating that feeding these dogs leads to them getting aggressive and threatens the safety of others.
They added that her behaviour also causes pollution by leaving the meat on the street for the dogs, and that she collected donations without the proper permissions.
Rabies remains a significant concern in Egypt among stray dogs, though extensive measures have been taken to reduce their numbers.
