The latest US strikes in Iran targeted Iranian air defence systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles and drone launch sites, a US official told Reuters on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
US Central Command had announced the new strikes earlier on Tuesday but offered no details on the targets.
Central Command said the operation was a response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
