Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two ministers discussed the latest regional developments, including the repeated Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the targeting of civilian facilities and critical infrastructure, along with their repercussions for the Kingdom's security and stability and the safety of its citizens and residents. They stressed that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and the principles of good-neighbourliness.
The ministers also discussed the consequences of Iran's continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz on maritime security, global energy and food supplies, and international trade, as well as the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.
They reviewed coordination of their shared position in the United Nations Security Council on regional issues and challenges, and exchanged views on ways to preserve regional security and stability and on other issues of mutual interest.
