MMA – Bahrain’s Mohamed Alsameea claimed a sensational victory in BRAVE CF 107 late Saturday night at Burgas Arena in Bulgaria.
The incredible fight night once again showcased the kingdom’s growing influence in international mixed martial arts (MMA) as BRAVE Combat Federation held one of Eastern Europe’s biggest combat sports spectacles.
As Bahrain’s ambassador for MMA worldwide, BRAVE CF continued its expansion across Europe in the event, which was held in partnership with Bulgarian Fight Agency and featuring top MMA athletes from around the world.
Alsameea provided an early highlight for Bahraini MMA, earning a unanimous decision win over Switzerland’s Miran Ramani in a 59kg catchweight match-up.
Alsameea dictated the action through superior wrestling, repeatedly advancing to dominant positions while keeping Ramani under constant pressure on the mat.
His control throughout the three rounds convinced all judges to award him the result.
Bahrain was also scheduled to be represented by Muhammad Idrisov, who had been set to face Colombia’s Alinson Ochoa in a bantamweight duel.
However, the fight was removed from the line-up after Ochoa exceeded the contracted limit during the official weigh-ins.
Discussions took place between both camps regarding revised terms, but no agreement was reached, leading to the last-minute cancellation of the encounter.
The evening’s headline attraction featured France’s Salim ‘Bizon’ El Ouassaidi overcoming hometown favourite and light heavyweight contender Kaloyan Kolev in dramatic fashion.
After struggling with Kolev’s boxing and takedowns in the opening frame, El Ouassaidi gradually shifted the momentum, finding success at close range before finishing the Bulgarian with ground strikes in the final round.
In the co-main event, Georgia’s Bidzina Gavashelishvili strengthened his credentials as a contender for the BRAVE CF flyweight world championship by outpointing South Africa’s Luthando ‘Shorty’ Biko over three rounds.
The home crowd erupted when Bulgarian lightweight Pavel ‘The Werewolf’ Vladev needed less than a minute to dispatch Greece’s Muhammed ‘The Thracian Gladiator’ Kir Ahmet.
A perfectly timed right hand sent Kir Ahmet crashing to the canvas before follow-up strikes brought a swift conclusion.
Another local favourite, former IMMAF world champion Deyan Galinov, produced one of the night’s most memorable moments.
After systematically breaking down Brazil’s Alexander ‘Pantera Negra’ Mikael with his boxing, Galinov uncorked a devastating left hook in the second round to secure a spectacular knockout.
India’s Owais Yaqoob continued his impressive rise by finishing Bulgaria’s Delyan Georgiev in the opening round of their 68kg catchweight clash.
Yaqoob marched forward from the opening bell, eventually dropping his opponent with a crushing left hook before sealing the outcome with relentless strikes on the ground.
