BASKETBALL – SEEF were crowned overall champions last night of the Bahrain Summer Tour 2026.
The kingdom’s representatives competing on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour secured the title after defeating ATBB 21-11 in the final of yesterday’s meeting, held as part of Sports City 26 at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB).
The event was the curtain-closer of the Bahrain Summer Tour, which also featured three rounds leading up to last night’s action.
Seef, guided by Bahrain’s 3x3 national team coach Murtadha Mohammed, were represented by the quartet of Bogdan Dragovic, Uros Ilic, Austin Ajukwa, and Isa Jasim.
They outclassed their ATBB opponents, who included Mohammed Kowayed, Naser Almusawi, Ali Shukrallah, and Sadeq Shukrallah, all of whom also have experience on the Fiba 3x3 World Tour as well as in representing the kingdom on the international stage.
Following the title-decider, Seef were presented their awards by Sports City 26 tournaments director Aysha Ahmadi and Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) competitions committee chairman Hassan Yaseen.
Along with the tournament crown, Seef pocketed the lion’s share of $2,500 in prize money along with a place in the Go Too! Group Aichi 2026 Challenger tournament in Japan, to be held on October 10 and 11. The Aichi event will act as a qualifier for this year’s Manama Masters – the kingdom’s top-tier tournament on the Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2026, scheduled for November 20 and 21.
The world tour is the premier street basketball series sanctioned by the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) and featuring tournaments of various levels held around the world.
Masters events are at the highest tier, followed by Challengers – both of which are fed by qualifiers, which include Super Quest, Quest, and Lite Quest events.
Other squads that laced up their sneakers in last night’s 12-team summer tour finale were NY, Lakers, Makhariqa, Falcon, Future Academy, Isa Town, Korma, Portlan from Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain’s under-23 A and B national teams.
Seef’s victory wrapped up an outstanding campaign for their squad in the popular 3x3 series, which was organised by the BBA. They had won two of the three preliminary events – with ATBB taking the other – while also taking the Bahrain Summer Tour’s one-day Quest competition, which earned them a berth in the Debrecen Masters in Hungary, set for August 29 and 30 as a top-tier world tour stop.
With yesterday’s men’s competition complete, the Bahrain Summer Tour 2026 will also feature a women’s finale, to be played today at EWB.
Alba head into the competition as heavy favourites, having triumphed in the two rounds played leading up to this evening’s overall title-decider.
Action is scheduled to get underway at 5pm and continue until 8.30pm. All are welcome to attend. There is a BD entry fee for spectators.
