TAEKWONDO – Bahrain’s star shuttler Adnan Ebrahim was yesterday officially named by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) to the kingdom’s delegation that will be taking part in the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Aichi and Nagoya in Japan starting next month.
The multi-sport Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) spectacle is scheduled for September 19 to October 4, with athletes from the OCA’s 45 member nations, both men and women, vying for gold in 469 medal events across 43 sports.
Ebrahim is set to compete in the men’s badminton event, set to be played at Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture from September 20 to 29.
Ebrahim joins fellow-Bahraini athletes Fatema Sadeq Kalawadh and Ola Abdulaziz Aldoseri, both competing in women’s taekwondo, as the athletes already confirmed by the BOC to be flying the kingdom’s flag in this year’s Asiad.
Aichi and Nagoya will mark the 14th time Bahrain are participating in the quadrennial Asiad.
The kingdom’s athletes first competed in 1974 and have been a part of the Asian Games in each edition since.
