KOWAT ALRAMI – The Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Kowat Alrami Open Championship 2026 is set to take place today at the Bahrain Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The event, organised by the Bahrain Combat Sports Council’s (BCSC) Kowat Alrami committee, is being held under the patronage of General Sports Authority (GSA) deputy chairman and BCSC president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Action is scheduled to begin at 1pm, and the competition will feature more than 40 competitors representing various teams from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and hosts Bahrain.
The BCSC’s Kowat Alrami committee said in a statement yesterday that it has completed all logistical preparations to host the championship.
It also held a workshop for the participating referees as well as a draw for the upcoming matches and the official weigh-in for participants.
Kowat Alrami committee chairman Mahmood Yaseen expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to Shaikh Salman for his generous support and patronage of the competition.
He stressed that the tournament comes within the committee’s plans and programmes, through which it seeks to strengthen the base of the combat sport in Bahrain and the region.
He added that it is one of the competitions that constitutes a basic pillar for developing the combat sport and preparing athletes accordingly, which will positively reflect the readiness of the national team to represent the kingdom in events.
Yassin also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the GSA, the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the BTTF, and all those who are supporting the championship.
Kowat Alrami, meaning ‘Power of the Throw’, is a modern Arab combat sport and martial art that combines striking, throwing, wrestling, and self-defence techniques rooted in regional heritage.
