Three people died and 17 others were injured when a helium gas cylinder exploded inside a restaurant at Arabella Plaza in New Cairo on Thursday.
The explosion triggered a fire, which was quickly brought under control by Civil Defence teams. Significant damage was reported to nearby storefronts, leaving shattered glass scattered across the area.
The Health Ministry dispatched eight ambulances to the scene, and the injured were transported to New Cairo Specialised Hospital and nearby medical facilities.
Security sources dismissed rumours of an elevator collapse, confirming that the gas cylinder explosion was the sole cause of the incident.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the blast.
