Three members of a family have been found dead inside a parked car in Egypt after freon gas reportedly leaked from the vehicle's air conditioning system.
Authorities in Cairo received a report from passers-by stating that a private car with unresponsive occupants had been parked on the side of the Ring Road in Old Cairo for a prolonged period.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the bodies of a 66-year-old man, his wife, and their 25-year-old daughter inside the locked vehicle. There were no visible signs of foul play or external violence.
According to local media reports, the daughter felt unwell and dizzy, prompting her father to pull over. Her parents attempted to assist her, but soon began showing similar symptoms as the family remained inside the closed car with the air conditioning running.
Preliminary examinations indicate the family suffocated after inhaling high concentrations of freon gas that leaked into the sealed cabin.
Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
