Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Personal Representative and Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) chairman, has issued three new regulatory decisions to strengthen the legal framework for wildlife protection.
The three decisions:
1. Decision (6) of 2026 sets up a passport system for falcons travelling between countries, using electronic ID to verify their legal origin under CITES rules.
2. Decision (7) of 2026 adopts an updated list of 381 protected wild plant and animal species, spanning mammals, birds, reptiles, marine life and coral reefs.
3. Decision (8) of 2026 bans the import, possession, trade and breeding of myna birds and crows, with a six-month amnesty for current owners to hand the birds over before penalties apply.
