An orientation day for parents and guardians will be held tomorrow across government schools in the kingdom as they get ready to welcome students again from Thursday.
Being held as part of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, members of the teaching and administrative staff will provide parents with an overview of the new academic year.
Education Minister Dr Mohammed Juma affirmed that the ministry has begun taking the necessary measures to implement the directives.
Government schools will welcome students and their parents starting tomorrow, with orientation also available on Thursday for those who are unable to attend on the first day.
“Orientation days will include welcoming parents by the teaching and administrative staff at government schools,” Dr Juma said in a statement.
“Parents will be provided with the necessary information on the key stages of the academic year.
“The sessions will also introduce them to the schools and their systems, as well as provide each student’s information pack.
“Parents who were unable to collect their textbooks in June may also complete the process during these visits.”
The minister expressed his appreciation for the continued co-operation demonstrated by parents with educational institutions in supporting a successful start to the new academic year.
He also stressed the importance of community partnership with the private sector in ensuring a smooth and successful beginning.
The ministry is expected to announce further details about the orientation days through its social media platforms and official website.
It called on parents to take the initiative and engage in partnership with schools by attending these days.
The GDN reported earlier that more than 10,000 new students have been registered for the new academic year, and more than two million textbooks are expected to be published and distributed.
The ministry has also expanded provision for students with special educational needs by opening 15 new classrooms and completing their furnishing.
It has completed the first phase of furnishing public schools with desks, chairs and modern office furniture, and has begun preparations for the second phase.
Traffic personnel deployment will also be intensified near schools, main roads and key junctions. Parents are urged to comply with traffic laws and regulations while transporting their children, particularly around schools and educational areas.
Traffic director-general Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa confirmed that traffic police will take firm action against any violation of traffic rules that may endanger students’ safety.
