The second edition of the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector will be held from September 29 to October 3, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The event will be organised by the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry and Eskan Bank, in co-operation with the GCC General Secretariat.
Housing and Urban Planning Minister and Eskan Bank board of directors chairperson Amna Al Romaihi said that organising the second edition comes as part of the ministry’s plan to implement the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and to build on the positive outcomes achieved by the first edition of the summit, which contributes to raising awareness of housing services and financing programmes.
The first edition witnessed wide participation by officials from the government and private sectors and specialists in the housing and real estate sectors, alongside the participation of real estate companies and commercial banks in the accompanying exhibition.
She explained that the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector is taking on a GCC dimension in its second edition this year, as it will coincide with the kingdom hosting the 24th meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers Responsible for Housing Affairs, attended by the ministers responsible for housing affairs in the GCC countries.
The minister noted that holding these GCC events alongside the conference and exhibition provides a platform to expand the exchange of housing expertise and experiences among GCC countries, and to review the most prominent projects and practices in the social housing sector, contributing to enhancing GCC co-operation and integration in this vital sector.
She added that the accompanying exhibition will include a dedicated pavilion for GCC countries, through which participating countries will showcase their housing projects and experiences, allowing visitors and specialists to explore various GCC housing models and projects and enhancing knowledge and expertise exchange among entities concerned with the housing sector.
Ms Al Romaihi noted that the second edition of the conference represents a further step towards building on the outcomes of the first edition by addressing several themes focusing on innovation in developing financing solutions, enhancing the role of the private sector as a key partner in implementing housing projects, expanding the adoption of smart city and integrated urban community concepts, making optimal use of land, and developing regulatory and legislative frameworks supporting the social housing sector.
It will also include a dedicated theme on urban development projects and the revitalisation of areas with historical and heritage identities.
She said that the conference will witness wide participation by officials, experts and specialists from within and outside the kingdom, in addition to representatives of the public and private sectors.
It will provide a platform for exchanging expertise, showcasing best practices and experiences, and discussing future challenges and opportunities in the social housing sector, thereby enhancing the sustainability of this vital sector and supporting comprehensive development in the kingdom.
The accompanying exhibition is also scheduled to witness wide participation by real estate companies, banks and financing institutions, which will showcase the latest housing projects and financing programmes, alongside providing a range of financing solutions and options, contributing to informing citizens about the options available for obtaining suitable housing.
Eskan Bank general manager Abdulla Taleb affirmed that organising the second edition of the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector reflects the commitment to continuing the development of the partnership between the government and private sectors and providing a platform that brings together various entities concerned with the housing, real estate and financing sectors, contributing to the exchange of views and expertise and the showcasing of solutions and initiatives supporting the development and sustainability of the social housing sector.
