MOTORSPORT – THE Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East (PCCME) announced last night that it is suspending its activities for the 2026 season.
Management of the Bahrain-based championship issued an official statement published on social media yesterday, confirming the suspension after conducting “a comprehensive review of the current circumstances”, which resulted in “uncertainty affecting the planning and execution of the championship”.
“The series must be able to provide all stakeholders with the operational, logistical and commercial certainty required to plan and deliver a championship to the standards expected,” the statement continued. “At present, this level of certainty cannot be assured.
“The pause will allow PCCME to undertake a controlled reset and work closely with its key partners towards a strong and sustainable return in the 2027 season.”
The statement concluded: “We remain fully committed to the region and to motorsport in the Middle East.”
The PCCME is the region’s leading one-make championship – well-established as a proven path for regional drivers to accelerate their careers in the sport. It is one of 12 Carrera Cups in the world, and competitors get behind the wheel of identical Porsche 911 (992) GT3 Cup cars.
Japan’s Taichi Watarai was the series’ overall champion and rookie class title winner in a condensed 2025-26 campaign, which held rounds in Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE before being cut off due to the regional situation.
