BAPCO Energies, through its corporate venture arm BeVentures, has successfully deployed Andium’s advanced emissions monitoring and decarbonisation technology within Bapco Upstream’s operations.
The initiative marks the first operational rollout resulting from a BeVentures investment.
The technology enhances Bapco Upstream’s methane detection and emissions monitoring capabilities by delivering timely, real-time operational data to support safety, efficiency, and environmental performance across the Group.
The deployment was announced at Bapco Upstream in the presence of senior leadership, including Bapco Energies group chief executive Mark Thomas, Bapco Energies acting managing director and Bapco Refining chief executive Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, Bapco Upstream chief executive Johanns Pleininger, Bapco Tazweed chief executive Basema Al Mahroos, BeVentures chief executive Areije Al Shakar, and Andium chief executive and founder Jory Schwach.
“The deployment of Andium’s technology at Bapco Upstream demonstrates how targeted investments can deliver practical value within our operations,” said Ms Al Shakar. “BeVentures’ role goes beyond investing in promising technologies. Mr Pleininger highlighted the operational impact of the tool, noting that it equips field teams with continuous visibility rather than periodic snapshots.
“Andium’s solution provides our teams with more timely visibility into methane emissions and field conditions, enabling faster detection, improved monitoring, and more informed operational decision-making,” he added. “As methane management continues to be an important area of focus for the industry, this deployment represents a practical step forward in strengthening our capabilities.”
Mr Schwach praised the collaboration, stating that Bapco Energies exemplifies the power of an investor acting directly as an operator.
“We are proud to be the first BeVentures investment to go live in the field, and we look forward to extending this across the group,” he added.
The successful integration provides a framework for Bapco Energies to explore further applications of Andium’s technology across its broader portfolio.
