Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid Al Khalifa received International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) – Middle East Executive Director Air Marshal (Retired) Martin Sampson.
Police Chief Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan also attended the meeting.
The minister stressed the importance of such meetings in strengthening communication and exchanging views.
Gen Shaikh Rashid commended the wisdom and leadership of His Majesty King Hamad in safeguarding the security and stability of the kingdom amid a highly complex regional environment.
He also highlighted the integrated measures undertaken by the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to address these delicate circumstances, noting that modern crisis management has become a discipline grounded in anticipation, proactive action, data analysis and institutional integration.
During the meeting, the minister expressed his appreciation for the role of research institutions and the distinguished studies and advanced academic contributions they provide, which support decision-making bodies and promote a positive approach to addressing challenges.
Gen Shaikh Rashid highlighted the International Institute for Strategic Studies’ role in promoting global peace and organising strategic forums and international conferences, foremost among them the annual Manama Dialogue, which serves as an intellectual platform for exchanging views on issues related to security and stability.
The meeting also addressed challenges related to policing, as well as ways to enhance co-operation and co-ordination, develop joint efforts and exchange expertise.
The latest regional and international developments were also discussed.
