The implementation of Decision (5) of 2026 on regulating the midday work ban during the summer ended. The ban was in effect from June 15 to August 31 and prohibited workers from working outdoors in direct sunlight between noon and 4pm.
Labour Minister and Legal Affairs Minister Yousif Khalaf said the positive results of this year’s summer midday work ban reflect Bahrain’s continued efforts to strengthen preventive protection in the workplace and uphold occupational health and safety standards. He commended the high level of compliance among establishments, which reached 99.98 per cent.
Mr Khalaf said Bahrain is committed to further improving systems to protect workers’ health and safety by strengthening preventive measures and developing relevant policies and legislation, while ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
He noted that this would help provide a safe and sustainable working environment, adding that establishments’ compliance with the decision reflects shared responsibility and awareness of the need to prevent heat stress and workplace injuries.
He highlighted that protecting workers from occupational risks is part of the kingdom’s approach to safeguarding its workforce and supporting sustainable productivity and performance across all sectors.
“The Labour Ministry would continue its inspection and awareness efforts to improve workplace safety and promote a culture of occupational health and safety, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and aligning with international labour standards,” he added.
