Bahrain’s Commercial Attaché in Geneva Maryam Al Doseri has been elected as Vice-President of the Trade and Development Board of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for a one-year term.
The election places Bahrain in a senior position within one of the UN’s key bodies dealing with global trade and development, further strengthening the Kingdom’s presence in international economic diplomacy.
Ms Al Doseri will serve on the Board’s Bureau, taking part in its work and deliberations on major issues shaping the global economic landscape, including trade, investment, finance and development.
Her election reflects Bahrain’s growing engagement in multilateral economic affairs and its contribution to international efforts aimed at promoting cooperation and sustainable development.
The Trade and Development Board is UNCTAD’s governing body between sessions of its quadrennial conferences. It oversees the organisation’s activities and provides a forum for member states to discuss major economic and development issues affecting countries and regions around the world.
