GCC foreign ministers met yesterday to co-ordinate the group’s stance on key issues ahead of the United Nations General Assembly session, which starts today. The meeting, held in New York, was chaired by Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, under Bahrain’s chairmanship of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council.
GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Al Budaiwi was present. Besides the issues scheduled to be addressed during the General Assembly session, the meeting reviewed the latest regional developments and their implications for security and stability in the region.
The UN Assembly session is taking place in a turbulent world that is facing a conflict in the Middle East, a war in Ukraine and a raucous debate on the use and development of artificial intelligence.
