A total of 1.22 tonnes of waste was cleared from Malkiya beach during a cleanup drive organised by the Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation (YAAF), in collaboration with YKA Edmaj. The initiative was held in partnership with CleanUp Bahrain to mark World Cleanup Day 2026. It witnessed the participation of dedicated volunteers from Y K Almoayyed & Sons (YKA), who collected and removed a significant volume of waste, including plastic, wood and metal debris. “World Cleanup Day is a powerful reminder that meaningful environmental change begins with collective action,” said the foundation’s board member Mariam AlUmran. “Seeing our colleagues and volunteers come together, contribute their time and make a measurable difference at Malkiya beach demonstrates what we can achieve when we take responsibility for the spaces and communities around us. Clearing 1.22 tonnes of waste is a significant achievement, but the greater impact lies in inspiring greater awareness and encouraging each of us to play our part in protecting Bahrain’s natural environment for generations to come.”
