A teacher and students of a Bahraini school have joined forces on a project combining green education with practical environmental activities.
The initiative, titled ‘Your Smart Companion for Green Living’, has transformed the buildings and corridors of Imam Malik bin Anas Primary School for Boys into a permanent showcase for sustainability.
Teacher and green education committee co-ordinator Mohammed Haitham said the project also features an AI-powered system that collects water condensed from air-conditioning units and reuses it to irrigate plants.
He said the initiative aims to encourage students to use AI to help protect the environment, while developing their critical thinking skills.
Sustainability has also become part of everyday school life, with students sorting waste and turning paper scraps and palm fronds into organic fertiliser for the school garden.
Student committee members Anas Ahmed, Saud Ahmed and Khalid Hussain said they were proud to contribute to creating a greener, healthier and more attractive school environment.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts by government schools to promote sustainable practices while keeping pace with the latest developments in education.
