Firemen were battling a blaze that broke out on a tanker carrying petroleum materials on King Hamad Highway early this morning.
The tanker caught fire while travelling towards the Askar area, prompting Civil Defence teams to rush to the scene and begin extinguishing the flames.
No injuries have been reported, said the Interior Ministry on its official social media channels.
Traffic on the affected stretch of King Hamad Highway was temporarily halted as a precaution while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
Motorists were diverted towards Road 96 in the Al Lahsi area to help keep traffic moving and maintain safety around the scene.
The relevant authorities were carrying out the necessary procedures at the site.
