The Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2027 will feature a stacked support race programme with two of the biggest international single-seater championships – both amongst the final rungs on the ladder to F1 – being confirmed as part of the race weekend.
The FIA Formula 2 Championship and the FIA Formula 3 Championship have announced their respective 2027 season calendars, with both flagging off at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir as part of the kingdom’s F1 weekend from March 12 to 14.
The new FIA F1 World Championship will also be getting underway in Bahrain.
F2 revealed a 14-round campaign with events being held across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania until December.
Following the series’ curtain-raiser in Bahrain, F1’s future stars will also race in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in March; Melbourne, Australia in April; Montreal, Canada in May; Monte Carlo, Monaco in June; Silverstone, Britain and Spielberg, Austria in July; Monza, Italy and Madrid, Spain along with Baku, Azerbaijan in September; at two new locations in Istanbul, Türkiye and Mexico City, Mexico in October; and then in Lusail, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, the UAE, as the final two rounds in December.
“The 2027 F2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City,” said F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“F2 continues to play a vital role as the ultimate pathway to F1, giving the most promising young drivers the opportunity to compete on the same stage as the pinnacle of our sport and showcase their talent to fans, teams, and partners around the world.
“Year after year, the championship delivers outstanding racing and helps develop the next generation of F1 stars.”
F3, meanwhile, will feature a 10-round schedule, with meetings also being held at venues in the same continents.
Following its Sakhir opener, F3 will also be racing alongside F1 and F2 in Jeddah, Melbourne, Montreal, Monaco, Silverstone, Spielberg, Monza, Madrid, and Istanbul.
“We have seen great racing in Formula 3 in 2026, including an incredible fight for the title,” said Domenicali.
“Racing alongside F1 is a unique opportunity for these drivers to develop their skills, showcase their potential, and prepare themselves for the demands of the highest level of our sport.
“The 2027 calendar marks an exciting step for F3, with the championship visiting four continents and introducing new venues that will provide fresh challenges for drivers and teams alike.”
Next year’s F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix will not only be the first rounds for F1, F2, and F3; it will also feature the kingdom’s first-ever F1 sprint race. Prior to the grand prix weekend, BIC will also be hosting F1 pre-season testing from February 24 to 27.
