Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the 317th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure.
The committee commended the successful organisation of the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector 2026, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The committee reviewed the Works Ministry’s preparations for the rainfall season in the roads and sanitation sectors. The plan includes forming field teams of engineers and technicians to work around the clock and deploying pumps and tankers across main roads in all governorates to enhance response efficiency during the season.
In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Works to study permanent solutions to reduce the number of locations most prone to rainwater accumulation and ensure smooth traffic flow in those areas.
The committee congratulated the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry on the opening of the ‘Istidama’ Centre as a specialised hub for awareness, training and capacity building in sustainability, the green economy and carbon neutrality.
The committee reviewed progress on the ‘Rimal’ (sands) marine sand survey project.
The committee discussed the use of modern technologies to improve energy efficiency at water production plants.
The committee concluded by reviewing periodic reports on the Urban Planning and Development Authority’s service-level agreement performance indicators, which showed that government entities responded to planning consultations within an annual average of five working days.
It also reviewed the operational status of the electricity and water sectors.
