Kuwaiti teachers have staged a protest outside the office of the Education Ministry following a controversial decision to transfer thousands of staff nationwide.
The minister recently ordered the redistribution of 8,310 teachers across various disciplines, sparking widespread outrage over forced relocations and long commuting distances.
Protesting educators claimed the decision disregarded teaching experience and subject specialisations, citing an instance where a high school philosophy teacher was reassigned to a kindergarten over 100 kilometres away.
Teachers gathered outside the minister's office demanding an official clarification and the immediate reversal of the order.
Ministry officials eventually met with representatives to receive their complaints and subsequently launched an online portal for formal grievances.
The ministry defended the transfers as a necessary step to balance staffing levels, maintain school stability, and enhance overall educational efficiency.
