Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the persistent, criminal terrorist attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, most notably the renewed strike targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, marking a dangerous escalation following a similar attack on the facility two days earlier.
The ministry emphasised that these blatant assaults represented a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter. It condemned the attacks as an unacceptable escalation threatening regional security, civil aviation, and the safety of civilian passengers and flight crews, as well as a severe breach of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations.
Reaffirming total solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain expressed absolute support for all sovereign measures and legitimate steps taken by the kingdom to safeguard its security, stability, citizens, and residents. It also underscored Saudi Arabia’s inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement, reiterating that Saudi security was integral to Bahrain and the wider Gulf Co-operation Council.
The ministry called on the UN Security Council, ICAO, and the international community to fulfil their responsibilities by taking decisive, deterrent action to halt ongoing Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, including airports. It further urged accountability for perpetrators and their sponsors, alongside the full enforcement of relevant resolutions, principally UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to protect regional and international peace and security.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthis said in a statement yesterday that a projectile had fallen near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
