The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has announced that it has reached an agreement with Spaniard Felix Sanchez to become the new head coach of the kingdom’s senior men’s national football team.
The BFA said in a post on social media that Sanchez will begin his tenure with Bahrain during the next Fifa international match window from November 9 to 17.
The BFA added that Sanchez will be introduced to the national media once he arrives in the kingdom.
He will be tasked with leading the senior men’s team in the upcoming AFC Asian Cup 2027 and in qualifying for the Fifa World Cup 2030.
Sanchez will be taking over from Croatian Dragan Talajic, who left his post following Bahrain’s early exit from the recent 27th Gulf Cup.
Sanchez was formerly head coach of Qatar’s national team from 2017 to 2022 and was also in charge of their under-19 and under-23 squads. He guided the Qataris to the AFC Asian Cup title in 2019 and also guided them as hosts in the Fifa World Cup 2022.
