Saudi taekwondo athlete Sabah Al-Asiri was injured during the Houthi attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, suffering bone fractures shortly after winning gold at a qualifier for the Minister’s Cup.
The Saudi Health Ministry published a video interview with the athlete in which she recounted the incident. Al-Asiri was reportedly travelling to Jeddah with her father when the airport was attacked.

She said she was looking at her phone when the attack occurred and recalled her confusion and shock when the device flew out of her hand. She then noticed that her arm was 'open' after being hit by shrapnel.
Al-Asiri has been competing with the Saudi taekwondo team for several years, winning medals at national and regional levels.
Her injuries required surgery, and she will need two further operations before beginning her recovery. She hopes to return stronger.
