Bahrain’s upper chamber has strongly condemned continued attacks by Iran-backed Houthi militias on Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the kingdom’s full solidarity with its neighbour and support for measures to protect its sovereignty and security.
A statement on behalf of Shura Council members was read out by chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh at the beginning of yesterday’s weekly session.
The council denounced what it described as terrorist attacks targeting several areas and vital civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia through missiles and drones, calling them a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, stability and the safety of citizens and residents.
“Bahrain stands firmly alongside Saudi Arabia and supports all legitimate measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and safeguard its security and stability,” the council said in its statement.
It stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security was inseparable from that of Bahrain and the other Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states, emphasising that regional security and stability were a shared responsibility requiring continued solidarity, co-ordination and collective action against threats.
The council also praised the efforts of the Saudi armed forces in confronting the attacks and protecting its vital facilities and national assets.
It commended the Saudi people for their strong national unity and steadfast support for their leadership, describing this cohesion as a fundamental pillar of the kingdom’s security and stability.
The statement highlighted the long-standing brotherly relations between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, rooted in shared history, close ties between their leaderships and people and a common destiny. It said the relationship had been strengthened over decades through sincere mutual support and continued co-operation across various fields.
The council reiterated Bahrain’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, praying for the protection of its leadership and people and for its continued security, stability and prosperity.
The statement comes amid continued regional security concerns over attacks targeting Saudi territory and critical infrastructure, reinforcing calls for Gulf unity and co-ordination in confronting threats to the region.
