The Government Hospitals has announced the adoption of an updated price list for healthcare services provided to residents covered by the National Health Insurance Programme for Residents, as part of the phased introduction of the programme and the implementation of its operational requirements.
The Government Hospitals confirmed that the updated price list applies to healthcare services provided to residents and other groups covered by the programme. It does not apply to domestic workers, residents employed by government entities and their dependents. Healthcare services for Bahraini citizens will remain unchanged.
Government Hospitals chief executive officer Dr Mariam Al Jalahma said that the updated price list is intended to standardise the calculation of healthcare costs and streamline billing and insurance claims procedures. It will also enhance transparency in financial transactions between healthcare providers and insurance companies, while maintaining the quality and safety of patient care.
Dr Al Jalahma noted that the introduction of the updated price list forms part of Government Hospitals’ operational preparations for the programme. These include improvements to medical coding and health records, upgrades to electronic systems and training for relevant medical and administrative staff to ensure an orderly transition.
She added that insured residents will receive healthcare services in accordance with their approved benefits packages and insurance coverage limits, with the associated costs and claims processed under the applicable health insurance procedures.
Dr Al Jalahma confirmed that information on healthcare services, pricing and access arrangements will be made available through Government Hospitals’ official channels.
