The world's largest natural black diamond, named "Infinity", has been displayed to the public for the first time at a conference in Dubai.
Weighing 888.88 carats, the rare stone was originally discovered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a 1,138-carat rough diamond.
The diamond was purchased on behalf of De Beers in 1975.
Craftsmen spent two years cutting and shaping the gem to reach its final weight, a figure chosen to symbolise good fortune.
Rather than removing its natural rough features, polishers shaped the diamond around its original form.
Owned by Belgium-based Diamond Trading NV, the stone was transported to Dubai under heavy security for the event.
