Electric mobility is set to expand across Bahrain following the introduction of the ARCFOX brand by local distributor Khalil Kanoo Motors.
The arrival of the new electric vehicle (EV) line-up marks a step towards sustainable transport in the kingdom, aligning with regional moves towards green infrastructure.
Unlike traditional petrol cars, EVs rely entirely on rechargeable battery packs and electric motors. This structure delivers instant acceleration, eliminates routine requirements like engine oil changes, and uses fewer moving parts – lowering long-term maintenance costs for local vehicle owners.
Additionally, electric motors eliminate standard engine vibrations, making the vehicle cabin exceptionally quiet and smooth.
Lower running costs, greater efficiency
The switch to electric vehicles offers significant opportunities to cut daily driving expenses as fuel prices fluctuate.
According to initial distributor metrics, running costs start at an estimated BD21 per 10,000 kilometres, presenting a highly economical alternative to conventional petrol power. This saving is further supported by Bahrain’s subsidised electricity tariffs for eligible consumers.
The initial ARCFOX rollout introduces three models tailored for different drivers in the Bahraini market.
The ARCFOX T1 is built for compact city commuting, while the ARCFOX T5 targets the sport utility vehicle (SUV) market with an emphasis on cabin space and advanced technology.
For the sedan market, the ARCFOX S5 focuses on sleek styling and responsive performance.
The next chapter: REEV Technology
The distributor also confirmed plans to introduce Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) systems to the local market to address consumer concerns about battery range limitations.
The upcoming ARCFOX V9 and T7 models will feature this hybrid setup. The vehicles use primary electric motors to drive the wheels, backed by an onboard petrol generator. This generator activates only to produce electricity for the battery pack when the charge runs low, ensuring continuous operation over long-distance journeys.
To support the rollout, the distributor is assessing the feasibility of a proprietary charging network exclusive to its customer base, aiming to complement existing public infrastructure amid rising domestic EV adoption.
Local distribution, technical maintenance and warranty services will be managed through the established distributor network across the kingdom.
The ARCFOX line-up is now on display at the Khalil Kanoo Motors showroom in Tubli, with bookings open for test drives and registrations for the upcoming V9 and T7 models.
