The government has dismissed calls to abolish Bahrain’s parallel Bahrainisation system, warning that scrapping one of the key financial incentives for hiring Bahrainis could undermine national employment levels and weaken citizens’ position in the private sector.Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain said the system helped narrow the cost gap between employing Bahraini and foreign workers by imposing an additional BD500 fee on employers who fail to meet their prescribed Bahrainisation quotas .
