A Syrian resident in the UAE helped rescue an exhausted pelican from traffic on a busy Dubai road by stopping vehicles to guide the bird to safety.
Abdulrazzaq Suleiman was travelling to Sharjah along Ras Al Khor Road on November 1 when he spotted the large bird stranded on the highway and unable to fly.

Suleiman pulled over, signalled oncoming drivers to slow down and carefully guided the pelican away from active traffic.
The rescue took between five and ten minutes, during which Suleiman coaxed the weakened bird into a safe zone near the road.
An Emirati motorist also stopped to assist before transporting the bird to Dubai Safari Park for care.
Suleiman said helping the animal in distress was a natural response that reflected the values of compassion and community responsibility in the UAE.
