Work on the new terminal of Kuwait International Airport was given the go-ahead, in the presence of Amir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to KUNA.
The launch ceremony was also attended by Crown Prince Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah and other senior state officials.
Erdogan addressed the event, hailing the state-of-the-art facility which, he said, symbolises special ties binding Kuwait and Turkey.
The project contract was given to award-winning Turkish company Limak Holding and local partner Kharafi National.
Once completed, the new terminal will triple the capacity of the airport to accommodate 25 million passengers annually and adapt to all types of aircraft through 51 gates and stands.
