ONE of Bahrain’s best-loved British bands is set to return to the stage at JJ’s Irish Restaurant in Adliya this weekend.
The Noise, fronted by band manager and lead singer Josephine Ellul, also features Richard “Sharke” Murray on guitar, Scott Wilson on drums and new member Dale Ellis on bass.
“I’m ecstatic that Scott and Sharke are still with us,” Ms Ellul told GDN Leisurescene.
“Scott is one of the best drummers I’ve ever worked with and Sharke used to play bass with us and now returns on guitar.
“This is very exciting as he structures songs brilliantly and has a knack of making one guitar sound so full that you would think there were two playing.”
Meanwhile, Ms Ellul described Ellis as “extremely talented and charismatic”.
“I knew I wanted him in the band from the first time I met him – he is a perfect fit for The Noise,” she said.
The Noise was last on stage in JJ’s for a one-off special on New Year’s Eve 2014, after which Ms Ellul left Bahrain for Hong Kong.
Guitarist Sharke, meanwhile, is fresh from playing Abu Dhabi with some former bandmates.
“After leaving JJ’s I spent a year in Heroes in Abu Dhabi and I’ve also just finished a short stint with my old band The Fuse on a ship,” he said.
Following his last turn in Bahrain, Scott Wilson went off to South Africa and Greece, as well as working in the UAE.
“I’m definitely looking forward to coming back to where it all began for me, at JJ’s,” he said.
New band member Ellis has played all over the world, from Australia and New Zealand, to the US, Canada and Qatar.
Ms Ellul said she was looking forward to playing live in Bahrain again, as she loves everything about the island from the people to the culture.
“One of my favourite things in the world is a JJ’s napkin that I cried on at our last gig here,” she said.
“My friend asked me and Scott to sign it and he had it framed and gave it to me at the New Year’s Eve
gig.
“It just shows to me how strong a bond we have with people here and I’m most looking forward to reconnecting with our audience and rocking out with this crazy talented line-up.
“I am also excited to work with DJ Tripz, JJ’s current DJ.”
Drummer Scott Wilson said he was looking forward to diving back
into JJ’s “electric” atmosphere.
“From all the venues I’ve played across the Middle East so far it has the best buzz, everyone is up for a good time and the crowd is always responsive,” he said.
You can catch The Noise tomorrow night from 9pm at JJ’s Irish Restaurant in Adliya.
