A huge fire broke out last night at a petrochemical plant in Umm Al Quwain, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
Civil defence units rushed to the site of the fire at Um Al Thaoub industrial zone and battled to prevent the flames from engulfing neighbouring buildings.
UAE Civil Defence Commander-in-Chief Major-General Jassim Al Marzooqi later announced that the blaze had been contained, reporting no casualties.
