Stephanie Lohale was crowned the winner of Miss India Worldwide pageant, from 32 other contestants from around the globe.
The pageant’s grand finale was in Mumbai, India on September 5. Lohale, a Dubai resident, had spent her early years in Muscat.
The 19-year-old is a student of design studies at Heriot-Watt University in Dubai. According to Muscat Daily she was the youngest contestant to enter the pageant this year.
Lohale created history by becoming the first contestant from GCC to win the pageant ever since its inception in 1990.
Miss India 2015 Apeksha Porwal was the first runner-up and Miss India South Africa, Shivani Govender, was the second runner-up.
American Monica Gill, who won the title last year, crowned the winners.
Off late contestants from Oman have been consistently doing well. In 2014, Niharika Pathak made to top ten along with two other contestants from UAE.
Lohale had to go through a rigorous and strenuous week-long workout in Mumbai before the pageant.
Stephanie said her fitness regimen includes "a lot of running" and zumba classes.
The most challenging part was the talent round, recalling the moment she said,“I painted in just about two and a half minutes successfully!”.
When asked about her future plans, Lohale maintains that she will take each day as it comes.
