The Bahrain Chamber celebrated World Press Day with a special ceremony at its Bait Al Tijjar headquarters yesterday, honouring a group of journalists and media professionals.
The event recognised their significant contributions to society and their role in the advancement of Bahrain’s media sector.
The chamber’s initiative underscores its strong conviction in the media’s crucial role in fostering responsible freedom of expression, tackling key societal and economic issues, highlighting the achievements of the private sector, and supporting national development.
BCCI chairman Sameer Nass, speaking at the ceremony, emphasised the occasion as an opportunity to acknowledge the vital work of Bahraini media in conveying accurate information and enhancing public awareness.
He praised the professionalism and objectivity that characterise Bahraini journalism, noting its importance in promoting transparency and openness within the kingdom.
Mr Nass highlighted the media’s role as a strategic partner in driving both economic and social progress. He also underscored the strong relationship between the chamber and the national Press, which consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to the public interest by delivering a balanced and responsible narrative that reflects the aspirations of Bahraini society.
Furthermore, Mr Nass reaffirmed the chamber’s continuous support for initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of national media. He stressed that a robust partnership between the private sector and media institutions is essential for building a prosperous and sustainable future for Bahrain.
